Windows 7 – End of Life

Windows 7 End-of-Life

As of January 14, 2020 Windows 7 reaches end of life.  Meaning Microsoft will no longer support it.  Don't worry, if you are still using Windows 7 at this time it will continue to work as it has in the past.  It's just that Microsoft will no longer maintain or fix issues if they occur.  Any vulnerabilities or security issues discovered will no longer be fixed and as time goes on your computer will be more and more a target for those that exploit these kind of things on the Internet. (Please do not do any buying or banking on the Internet after Windows 7 expires.)

You can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free.  A quick Google search will bring you to the instructions to do so.  We at Computer Cottage are more than happy to do this for you.  Microsoft does not charge when upgrading a valid Windows 7 computer to Windows 10.  We do have a service fee for this upgrade as we perform a few special procedures to ensure the upgrade goes well without loss of pictures documents or settings which includes imaging your hard drive so that if the upgrade does not go well we can restore your computer to exactly as it was before the upgrade started and resolve the upgrade issues.

We also recommend that if you are still running an old and slow hard drive that we upgrade you to a lightening fast SSD (Solid State Drive) at this time.  Having Windows 10 and a fast SSD will make your computer better than new except all your favorite things (pictures, documents, settings, etc.) are still right where you left them.

Let us know if we can help you make the move to Windows 10.
